I just ate my way through New Orleans. I like to try the local specialities wherever I travel, and NOLA has so many specialties. I tried frog legs, alligator, gumbo, shrimp, fried tilapia, calamari, blackened catfish, meat pies, crab cakes, beignets, and pecan Pralines. We didn’t get jambalaya or a Poboy.
We had Crazy Transportation issues. Mississippi has very poor signage. It gives you one sign miles away from exit and then no other signs. When we got near New Orleans all the roads are raise/bridges because there is so much marshland. In the old days of New Orleans, Canal Street divided the English section from the French Section and as result all streets have two names a different one for each side of canal street making it very difficult to navigate. In addition there are tons of U-turns all over Louisiana a testament to how hard it is to navigate. New Orleans has stop lights on busy on-ramps to highways. When there is space on highway, it turns green. There is a sign that’s says one car on green. There are side roads that parallel the highways all called frontage road. We were very grateful for Saara ( our GPS navigation).
The worst issue was our first ever Uber ride. My mom was struggling to breathe in the heat & humidity so I suggested we Uber down to the French Quarter. The car arrives and it’s an elderly woman, whose has only had her Uber license for four days, doesn’t Know how to use the Uber app so we literally go in circles for two rounds back to our pick-up spot, and didn’t Seem to know New Orleans. An 8minute ride took 35 minutes and that was only because Micah was helping her navigate. We were meeting a tour so we had to get back so we ordered a new Uber who took us straight back. The second Uber was good. Uber newbies cannot ride share with newbie drivers.

Chris wants to know if you had any special coffee. Cafe du monde?😊 And did you eat crayfish?
ReplyDeleteNo special coffee, no crayfish. Our beignets were from Cafe du Monde though.
